Teach math with games

Motivate students to focus and learn

Board Games for Early Mathematics, a systematic, step-by-step program of more than 300 two-player math games and more than 50 activities, focuses students’ attention on mathematical concepts. These resources aren’t just for practicing, they are for learning.

Do students need to be on a screen to play?

No. All the game boards and activities are PDFs to print on paper, so students can play in pairs or one-to-one with an adult instructor. Social interaction is key for motivation and learning.

Who are these resources for?

The game sequence, which can accompany any K-3 curriculum, was designed especially for intervention. Building and using number sense is the focus throughout. The hundreds of games in the step-by-step sequence allow you to start at just the right ones for an individual student. Topics covered include number properties (with an emphasis on ten frames and number lines/paths), mathematical symbols such as the equals sign, place value, rounding, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
